He Accused Me Of Stealing But I Heard The Truth Chapter 40

“Did she ever find any evidence that Erin had concealed income?”

“No.”

“Did she have the authority to convert Mr. Weston’s private payment into a foundation review?”

Nicole lowered her head.

“No. She used her office authorization.”

Mia also gave my lawyer the messages from the investor group chat.

In them, Rachel explicitly stated that anyone who helped me obtain a loan was knowingly participating in fraud against Weston Group.

The complaint records from the aid center, the foundation payment change, and the evidence from the hospital video were all laid out on a single timeline.

Taken one by one, Rachel had explained away each incident as procedure, a misunderstanding, or an action to protect the company.

But put together, they showed a clear, undeniable pattern.

First, she took my money. Then, she systematically destroyed my credibility.

In the end, she tried to put Maisie’s very survival back under her control.

Based on these records, the prosecutor asked the court to tighten Rachel’s bail conditions.

The judge barred her from publishing anything related to me or Maisie through agents, media accounts, or third parties.

When I came out of the courthouse, Derek was standing at the bottom of the steps.

“I heard about what happened at school.”

“Don’t transfer her.”

His hand, half-raised, froze.

“I wasn’t going to arrange anything.”

[I want to make those people shut up.]

[But she’s right. Maisie can’t be moved every time she gets hurt.]

I handed the box of documents to my lawyer.

“If you want to help, then when the criminal trial starts, say exactly what you said six years ago. Don’t leave out the parts that make you look bad.”

Derek nodded.

“Okay.”

The trial was set for a month later.

Rachel rejected the prosecutor’s final plea offer.

She was determined to testify in person that I had taken the money, and that Derek had been the true mastermind behind it all.
