He Asked For Space I Left With His Baby Chapter 06

He Asked For Space I Left With His Baby Chapter 06

I was completely baffled. What did that mean?

Three hours later, the man who was supposed to be in Cork for the week walked into the conference room.

A carry-on suitcase trailed behind him.

Melting snow still dotted the shoulders of his dark overcoat. He fixed his eyes on me.

“What happened?”

The rumors hadn’t been an exaggeration.

Ethan Sterling was absurdly handsome, with the kind of face that could make you forgive impossible deadlines.

But contrary to the stories, his tone was calm.

When I explained that the message was a mistake, one corner of his mouth ticked up.

“So payroll never accidentally sends your salary to my bank account, but your crying-cat emojis find their way to me?”

I sighed. “Fair enough.” Taking advantage of his surprisingly good mood, I mentioned the approval that had been stalled for days.

He made a single phone call.

In under five minutes, everything was authorized.

I let out a long breath. “Thank you, Mr. Sterling.”

He studied me for a moment, then gave a faint smile. “Nora, it seems you’ve really forgotten me.”

On the way home, I racked my brain.

Where could we have met? I couldn’t remember a thing.

My phone vibrated. Roman.

I stared at his name on the screen for a long time before answering.

The second I picked up, his voice came through, ragged.

“Nora.” He didn’t sound angry. He just sounded… panicked. It was a tone I’d never heard from him before.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I said nothing, and his breathing hitched.

“I know about the baby.” My fingers tightened around my phone.

“I know you went to Dublin.” He paused.

“I know you left.” The words hit me harder than I’d expected.

“Roman…”

“I’ve spent the whole morning looking for you.” His voice dropped.

“I called the hospital. I checked your flight records. I went home and looked in your closet…”

He broke off, as if saying the words out loud hurt.

“Half your things were gone. You packed up and left without telling me.”
