He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 21

“What are his conditions?” I asked.

I was standing in the stairwell at the institute, my voice perfectly calm.

My lawyer paused.

“He wants one private meeting with you. If you agree, he’ll cooperate immediately.”

I looked out through the glass at the Charles River.

Gabriel always had a condition.

The first time, he used the threat of a criminal investigation to force me to stay in our marriage. Now, he was trying to use the assets that were already mine to buy one more meeting.

“Don’t answer him. When the deadline passes, file for enforcement.”

“Margot, that could seriously affect his company’s cash flow.”

“That’s his problem to solve.”

I signed the enforcement application and sent it to my lawyer that afternoon.

The next day, Gabriel transferred nothing.

He sent me an email with the subject line: Last Time.

I didn’t open it. I forwarded it straight to my lawyer.

When the court scheduled a remote hearing, Gabriel finally appeared.

On the screen, he wore the same dark suit I knew so well, his left eye still fitted with the prosthesis. The judge asked if he disputed the divorce judgment or the property agreement.

“No.”

“Then why have you failed to comply?”

Gabriel looked straight into the camera, as if searching for me through the screen.

“I just hoped to talk to Margot. There’s been a misunderstanding.”

The judge cut him off.

“Personal feelings are not a valid reason to refuse compliance with a court order.”
