He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 23

I took a screenshot of the text, sent it to my lawyer, and blocked the number.

A minute later, a new text came from a different number.

[You already have Julian. Why can’t you just leave Gabriel alone?]

[His company needs that money. You don’t even need it.]

She hadn’t changed at all.

When she took my husband, she claimed she only wanted a little bit of his affection. Now that the court had returned what was legally mine, she acted like I was taking too much.

I didn’t reply.

Three days later, I was called into a meeting with HR. Someone had filed an anonymous complaint accusing Julian and me of having an improper relationship.

The complaint alleged that before my divorce was even final, I had used Julian to get my job, then leveraged his influence again to secure my new project.

Sitting across from the HR manager, I felt my hands grow cold.

If this had happened a year ago, I might have questioned myself first.

Now, I just asked, “What documentation do you need from me?”

Julian was not my direct supervisor. My interview records, the hiring committee’s vote, and the project review notes were all on file. HR had already checked them but still needed my statement.

I gave her a copy of my divorce decree.

Then I opened Sienna’s Instagram profile. The posts from three years ago were still there.

The photo of her and Gabriel with their hands over her stomach was dated. My parents’ likes and fawning comments were still there, too.

I didn’t mention the miscarriage.

“The complainant says I destroyed a marriage,” I said calmly. “But when I came to Boston, Julian, who I’ve known for years, only helped me as a friend by connecting me with the interview process.”

“These public posts should be enough to explain why my marriage actually ended.”
