He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 06
The moment he saw the moving trucks, his face darkened.
“Elodie, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Madison immediately latched onto his arm.
“She’s trying to empty the house! She brought all these men here, people we don’t even know. I tried to stop her, and she threatened me with a lawyer.”
Eric glanced at the boxes.
“Put everything down.”
The movers stopped, looking to me for direction.
I said, “Keep moving. These are my personal belongings.”
Eric let out a cold laugh.
“These are things you brought for our marriage. The ceremony just ended. You don’t get to take them back on a whim. At the very least, this waits until the lawyers sort it out.”
“We were never legally married. And these weren’t gifts—I have receipts for everything, in my name. Even if we had married, my premarital property wouldn’t magically become yours just because I moved it in.”
From behind him, Madison chimed in, “Don’t start throwing legal terms around. If Eric says they stay, they stay.”
Eric didn’t silence her. He just pulled her closer.
“Go back to the room and get some more sleep. Don’t let her upset you.”
Madison rose onto her toes and kissed his chin.
As she passed me, she lowered her voice to a deliberate whisper.
“You saw last night. In this house, whose bedroom do you think this really is?”
“If you really can’t stand it, you could always beg me. Maybe if I’m in a good mood tonight, I’ll lend you Eric for a few hours.”
Before I could respond, a man’s voice cut through the tension from the front door.
“Eric Hawthorne, step aside.”
A man in a dark gray suit walked in, flanked by my assistant, the estate manager, and two security guards.
He set a folder on the entryway table.
“I’m Elodie Carrington’s counsel. I’m here to supervise the retrieval of her personal property and to serve notice regarding several pending business matters.”
“The inventory list has already been sent to the estate manager. If there’s a dispute over ownership, we can verify it on the spot. Any further attempts to withhold her property will be considered theft, and we will involve the LAPD.”
