He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 16
“But Elodie, the only thing that matters is what you want.”
I lowered my eyes and took a sip of coffee.
She continued, “You’re going to meet plenty of people. You don’t need to rush into anything to prove a point to Eric, and you certainly don’t need to force yourself to accept someone just because he looks good on paper.”
While we were talking, my assistant entered, a conflicted look on her face.
“Elodie, Mr. Winslow is here.”
“He ordered flowers and brought a gift. They’re setting everything up downstairs. It… it looks like he’s here to propose.”
My cup stopped halfway to my lips.
“Propose?”
My assistant nodded.
“The whole staff went down to watch. He said he wanted to do it properly, in front of your parents.”
My mother’s smile was gone.
My father looked at me, but he didn’t push, didn’t offer an answer.
I set down my cup and went downstairs.
An elaborate display of flowers and gifts had been arranged just outside the showroom. Wyatt stood in the middle of it all in a dark blue suit, his posture ramrod straight.
The moment he saw me, he took a step forward.
I didn’t give him a chance to speak.
“Wyatt, what are you doing?”
He stopped.
“I wanted to—”
“Who told you I was ready to accept a proposal?”
The smile on his face froze.
Someone nearby was still filming with their phone. One of the employees laughed and said, “Elodie, he went to all this trouble. Just say yes.”
I turned and fixed my gaze on her.
“Since when is my marriage a decision for anyone else to make?”
The entire area fell silent.
