He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 33
Camille jerked her head up.
“Weren’t you the ones who agreed to give me the banquet hall in the first place? And it was Dad who had people put the donation QR code on every table.”
My adoptive mother turned on her.
“If it hadn’t been for your project, why would we have reposted that promotional video?”
The color drained from Camille’s face.
“So now this is all my fault?”
At last, they had started fighting over the worst wristband.
Each of them was trying to force it onto someone else’s arm.
Listening to them argue, Grant suddenly remembered the night of the engagement dinner.
Those two passes had been set in front of June. He had already decided the better one would go to Camille, yet he had pretended to let June choose.
Then it was the house key.
Then the wedding venue.
Then the name in the vows.
He had always believed June would keep accepting whatever was left.
Now she wanted none of it.
The board’s final terms came the next day.
Permanent removal of my image from all use. One-by-one removal of all public materials. Payment of legal fees. And a correction notice to remain on the foundation homepage for thirty days.
My adoptive father refused to publish the correction.
The board answered him with a single sentence.
“If a settlement cannot be reached, court proceedings will continue.”
That night, he signed the agreement.
For more than twenty years, he had taught me to give way for the greater good.
When it was his turn, it turned out he didn’t have a second choice, either.
