He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 42
A year later, the storefront next to the studio became available.
The landlord set two keys on the table in front of me.
One led to the current studio.
The other led to the space that could become an expanded weekend classroom.
“June, which one do you want?”
I looked at the keys in my palm and suddenly thought of years ago.
The VIP pass and the plastic wristband.
The main floor and the downstairs apartment.
Choice after choice laid out before me, only to be taken from my hand.
Eli stood nearby and didn’t answer for me.
“The rent will double,” I said.
“The class bookings are already backed up for three months, and the orders can support it.” He opened the ledger. “But whether to expand is your decision.”
“What if I don’t take it?”
“Then we keep using the space we have now.”
“What if I take it and it fails?”
“Then we figure it out together.”
He didn’t promise success, and he didn’t use love to take the risk away from me.
He simply laid out the numbers and left the keys in my hand.
I signed the new lease.
On the first wall of the expanded space, I hung the dome sketch I had drawn at eighteen.
It was never turned into a real dome, but it became the first picture every child saw when they walked into the classroom.
