He Gave My Ring To Her Now He Wears His Regret Chapter 14
Three months later, Nico finally found me.
I had gone to a small seaside town in Maine, joining a documentary team that was filming women artisans in remote communities.
He drove through the night and found me near an old fishing dock.
I was wearing a windbreaker, my hair blowing in the sea breeze, my camera pointed at an elderly woman mending her nets.
Nico stood in the distance, watching me.
It was the first time he had ever seen my lens focused on something other than the five of them.
I was smiling.
Not to please anyone. Not because someone had told me not to ruin the mood.
It was an easy, unguarded smile.
When the shoot was over, I turned and saw him. The smile on my face slowly faded.
“Why are you here?”
Nico took a moment before speaking.
“Come back with me.”
I shook my head.
“This is my job now.”
“You can quit.”
He said it quickly, with the same casual authority he had always used when making decisions for me.
“I’ll rearrange the wedding.”
“I left that group chat.”
“Alessia won’t come between us anymore.”
“From now on, it’ll just be the two of us.”
I looked at him quietly.
“Nico, you still don’t get it.”
His expression stiffened.
“I didn’t leave so you would quit a group chat.”
“And I didn’t leave to force you to choose between me and Alessia.”
“Then what do you want?”
I met his gaze.
“I don’t want you anymore.”
The sea wind blew through the space between us.
Nico’s eyes reddened instantly.
“All because of one game?”
