He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 34

Married life was quieter than I had imagined.

The Westmoor Pack’s Alpha residence was not a complicated household.

Robert handled border affairs year-round, while Clara, as the sole Luna, oversaw medical care, education, and member welfare. She didn’t immediately hand over her authority just because I was a future Luna, nor did she test my obedience.

The first time she gave me a stack of community budget reports, she said, “If you don’t like this sort of thing, just leave it. The finance team can keep handling it. Don’t listen to anyone who says that marrying the Alpha heir means you have to take over all Pack business. You didn’t come to Westmoor to be a free accountant.”

I held the files, silent for a long moment.

She thought I was nervous and patted my hand.

“Take your time.”

But I smiled.

“I like looking at accounts.”

She blinked, then her face lit up.

“That’s wonderful. Then they’re all yours!”

That evening, when Gavin came back from the border base, I told him about it.

He was silent for a moment.

“Has my mother been waiting for this day the whole time?”

“Waiting for what?”

“To dump the budget work she hates most onto someone else.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

Later, I started riding again.

Gavin gave me a small, chestnut-red mare.

I stood in front of the stable for a long time without moving to mount her.

He asked, “You don’t like her?”

“It’s not that.”

I reached out and touched the mare’s warm mane.

“I used to have one.”

“What happened to her?”

“I gave her to Victoria.”

He went quiet.

I thought he would offer some words of comfort, but instead he asked, “Do you want me to put separate access controls on this stable?”

“Why?”

“So no one can lead this one away, too.”

I burst out laughing.

“No need. No one would dare now.”

On quiet nights, we would shift together and run along the mountain borders of Westmoor.

For the first time, my wolf understood that having something of your own didn’t have to mean someone else was harmed.
