He Left Our Daughter To Drown But I Saved The Footage Chapter 20

When we got home, I didn’t open the petition.

Maisie sat at the dining table, carefully counting the pieces of pineapple on her pizza.

“Mom, they gave us an extra half serving!”

Delighted, she pushed the biggest slice toward me.

“This one’s for you.”

I took it. Only after she had finished her dinner, taken a bath, and fallen asleep hugging her rabbit did I go into my study.

My lawyer called just as I opened the file.

“The court hasn’t approved it, they’ve only accepted the filing,” she said. “Evan completed his community service and parenting classes. He’s going to argue that he’s changed.”

“The psychologist’s recommendation was no visitation for one year.”

“He’s asking for a review four months early. He’s claiming that too much time without contact will harm the potential for repairing their relationship.”

I flipped to the last pages of the petition.

He referred to his actions as “an error in judgment during the hurricane.”

He described the false complaint against me as “an improper legal action taken under Brooke’s influence.”

In all twelve pages, he never once mentioned that Maisie was seven years old.

He never once mentioned that she stood on a dining table and waited for him for three hours.
