He Left Our Daughter To Drown But I Saved The Footage Chapter 27
Sadie was the first to look down.
“If you don’t want me here, I can go.”
The man who had brought her, her legal father, stood outside the door and made no move to enter.
He simply gave me a brief nod, leaving the decision to the children.
I crouched beside Maisie.
“This is your studio, and other kids can sign up for classes. But if this feels too hard today, we can move to another room.”
Maisie’s lips pressed into a thin line. She didn’t look at me.
She was staring at the wristband on Sadie’s arm.
The one Evan had fastened for her in the hotel.
The one he had used to broadcast his heroism while Maisie stood in floodwater.
Following her gaze, Sadie quickly hid her hand behind her back.
“I didn’t wear it to show you,” she mumbled, fumbling with the clasp.
“You can have it.”
“I don’t want it.”
Maisie’s voice was firm.
Sadie froze.
“It wasn’t mine to begin with,” Maisie said. “And I don’t want yours, either.”
