He Let Me Bleed So I Let Him Go Chapter 03
Elena took the documents and flipped to the last page.
A signature was already there.
*Dante De Luca.*
The handwriting was heavy, the stroke unbroken, as if the person signing hadn’t bothered to read a single word.
Bianca watched her, a smug little smile on her face.
“Dante trusts me, so he didn’t look too closely. Should I go back and tell him what he just signed?”
Elena stared at the signature.
She had been right.
Bianca’s words told her to back down, but her actions had been faster and more ruthless than anyone’s.
“No need.”
Elena put the documents away and turned to leave.
She had the lawyer file the civil divorce papers, then submitted the withdrawal agreement to the records office of the Five Families Committee. Once the witness stamped them, the termination of her identity and protected status with the De Luca family entered the final confirmation stage.
By the time she got home, the dull ache in her lower abdomen had returned.
She curled up in bed and fell into a heavy sleep.
Late that night, the secure line by her bed suddenly rang.
The voice on the other end was frantic.
“Elena, something’s happened at the club. You have to get over here—Dante’s losing control!”
She shot out of bed. The pain in her abdomen was sharp, but she just grabbed a coat and rushed out the door.
The private club was adjacent to the De Luca family command center.
The tribute meeting had just ended, but the district bosses, their bodyguards, and the Ferraro liaison staff were still there, sitting around a long table, drinking and trading secrets like currency.
The moment Elena walked in, she heard someone egging Bianca on.
“Your turn, Bianca. Tell us something no one here knows.”
Bianca’s face was flushed with alcohol.
She tilted her head toward Dante, who sat at the head of the table, and smiled coyly.
“Of course. I’ve slept with your boss.”
The room went dead silent.
That wasn’t just a wife’s humiliation.
It was a public declaration, in front of De Luca bosses and Ferraro staff, that the allied Don’s daughter had usurped his wife’s place in his bed.
Every head turned toward the doorway.
Elena stood there in her pajamas, wearing only the flat shoes she’d shoved on in her haste. Her face was pale from blood loss.
She understood instantly.
Bianca had arranged the call.
She wanted Elena to hear those words with her own ears.
The moment Bianca saw her, her eyes lit up. She staggered over and grabbed Elena’s hand.
“Elena, you came! You have to do something about Dante. He’s insatiable. He leaves me barely able to walk the next day, and it’s still not enough for him. You’re his wife—tell me, what’s your secret for keeping up?”
No one in the club said a word.
The bosses wouldn’t interfere in the Don’s private affairs, and the Ferraro men certainly wouldn’t speak up for Elena. Their silence was a verdict: the truce was more important than her dignity.
Elena picked up a glass of red wine from the table and threw it in Bianca’s face.
Bianca stumbled back.
Wine dripped from her hair, staining the hem of her dress.
“Elena!”
Dante shot to his feet, crossed the room in three long strides, and seized Elena’s wrist, dragging her away.
His grip was like iron.
“Bianca talks nonsense when she’s drunk. Did you have to humiliate her in front of both Families?”
Elena tried to pull her arm free, but he held fast.
“Was she talking nonsense, or was she using alcohol as an excuse to tell the truth? How many times have you slept together?”
Her voice was raw.
“If you want her in my place, then end the marriage. Why let our whole world watch you two trample all over me?”
Someone nearby helped Bianca to her feet.
Bianca covered her face and sobbed, her shoulders shaking.
The sight of her tears made Dante’s gaze go arctic.
“Elena. Apologize to her.”
Elena’s chest tightened.
She ripped her arm from Dante’s grasp, snatched the decanter from the table, and emptied the rest of the wine over Bianca.
