He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 07
Tessa hurried to speak. “But I have nowhere else to go, and I have a child—”
Marisol held up a hand to stop her.
“I understand that being a single mother is hard. I understand a father wanting to help his daughter.”
She paused, and when she spoke again, her voice was colder.
“What I do not understand is why both of you decided to cut the co-owner of this house out of the decision.”
“Where is her bed?”
“Where is her office?”
“And where, exactly, is her legal right to live here?”
No one answered.
Marisol pointed toward the master bedroom.
“That is no longer Claire’s master bedroom.”
Then she pointed toward the kitchen.
“And that is not just a damaged bookshelf.”
Finally, she looked at Daniel.
“And you are no longer the man who promised to build a home with Claire.”
Daniel’s face darkened. “You’re making this sound more serious than it is. The ADU is a home, too. Claire lives there. What’s the problem?”
Marisol looked at him like he’d just told a bad joke.
“Whose names are on the deed?”
Daniel’s lips moved. “Mine and Claire’s.”
“And the down payment?”
I wiped away my tears. “Seventy percent came from me. And for the last three years, I’ve also been paying more of the monthly mortgage.”
