He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 25
The next afternoon, I went back to the ADU to retrieve the original records showing what I had contributed to the house.
As I passed the main house, Daniel’s mother happened to come out the front door. The moment she saw me, she grabbed my wrist.
“Claire! Why are you standing out here? Stop sulking and come inside. We’re family.”
“I’m just here to get some documents.”
She ignored me completely and started pulling me toward the house.
Daniel came over when he heard the commotion and said in a low voice, “Since you’re here, stay for dinner. Don’t make this awkward for everyone.”
I pulled my hand free. “Fine. But after dinner, you sign the property division letter my lawyer sent.”
His face changed.
People inside had already started looking over. After a few seconds of silence, he nodded. “Fine. I’ll sign.”
Only then did I walk in.
The living room was crowded with Daniel’s relatives. Tessa sat at the head of the dining table in a brand-new red dress. On the wall behind her hung a framed photo of her and Noah, with gold letters spelling out *New Life*.
As if this house had always belonged to her.
