He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 33
The old house, meanwhile, stayed in chaos.
Daniel kept texting me.
“Tessa got another complaint at work for being late. She’s really not doing well.”
“Noah isn’t fitting in at school. His teacher says he needs more support at home.”
“My mom keeps complaining that Tessa is ungrateful. I have to go deal with it.”
Every message hid the same unspoken request—*come back and clean this up for us.*
I read them and closed the thread.
Tessa’s work, Noah’s school, his mother’s emotions—none of it was my responsibility anymore.
Friday afternoon, an email came in from my lawyer.
“The divorce petition and motion for property protection are ready. Since Daniel refuses to cooperate with the disposition of the house, we have also drafted the partition action. Once you confirm everything is correct and sign, we can file with the court.”
I checked every page.
That night, Daniel sent another video.
The camera moved slowly from the entry through the living room. The floors were clean. The toys and cardboard boxes were gone. Upstairs, the master bedroom had been restored to how it looked before, and our framed photo was back on the nightstand.
At the end, the camera stopped at the door.
Daniel’s voice came from behind it.
“They’re gone now. Claire, the house is cleaned up, and your lock access is restored. Come home.”
I didn’t answer.
An empty room could not erase signed documents, and restored access could not change the fact that he had personally labeled me a guest.
I closed the video, opened the documents my lawyer had sent, printed them, reviewed them again, and signed my name on both the divorce petition and the partition filing.
