He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 36
I opened my briefcase, took out the divorce settlement agreement my lawyer had drafted, and slid it across the table toward Daniel.
He stared at the words *Divorce Settlement Agreement* on the cover and didn’t reach for it for a long time.
“You had this ready already?”
“Before you admitted anything, I already knew what I needed to do.”
He opened it. The increase in the home’s value would be divided according to each person’s contribution. Debts in each person’s name would remain their own. Marital savings would be split evenly. There were no punitive terms and no room left for sentiment.
Daniel’s hand stopped at the signature page.
“So even if I make Tessa leave, it won’t matter?”
“That’s what you should have done as her father. Not something you do in exchange for getting me back.”
He snapped the agreement shut.
“You’re ending a marriage over one house?”
“The house only made me see how our marriage actually worked.”
His face went rigid.
“I didn’t cheat on you. I didn’t hit you. Blended families are complicated. Everybody has to work through things. If you push this all the way to divorce, what are people going to think?”
Even now, what he feared most was not what he had done to me.
It was how it would make him look.
