He Married Another So I Accepted My Arranged Husband Chapter 24

The Moretti boss let out a single, sharp laugh.

“Excellent.”

He shoved the alliance agreement across the table toward the Ferraro delegation.

“Your heir knowingly used equity that belonged to someone else to secure our family’s support in front of witnesses.”

“Now, the Ferraro Family owes us an explanation.”

Ferraro’s adviser refused to back down.

“Talia promised at the time that she would return it. You knew from the start it was only a temporary arrangement.”

“That’s a lie.”

“The wedding footage still exists. You were the ones who demanded Salvatore prove his choice.”

Very quickly, the two sides were at each other’s throats.

They dragged out every word spoken at that disastrous wedding, each trying to push responsibility onto Talia, who was no longer there to defend herself.

I stayed where I was and said nothing.

When I had been forced out of that ballroom, they had been sitting on opposite sides, just like this.

Back then, not one of them had wanted to hear a word I had to say.

Now, the more they argued, the more they proved that the equity transfer had not been a legitimate business decision. It had been a bribe, a way to buy Talia status at her own wedding.

The committee called for a recess.

In the corridor, the Moretti boss stopped me.

“Indigo, Talia has already paid with her life.”

“Are you really going to keep everyone talking about her, all for the empty shell of a bankrupt company?”

I stopped walking.

“I’m not the one who filed a claim on Northstar’s equity.”

His expression stiffened.

“It was your family that claimed it in the name of her estate.”

“And now that you realize the agreement might come with debt, you want me to withdraw my claim for her sake.”

“Mr. Moretti, I can’t be the one expected to shoulder both of those burdens.”

He lowered his voice.

“If you withdraw your claim, the Moretti Family will publicly acknowledge your prior relationship with Salvatore.”

I looked at him, incredulous.

“I don’t need your acknowledgment.”

“The photos, the registration records, and Salvatore’s testimony all exist. The truth doesn’t disappear just because the Moretti Family decides to stay silent.”

I walked past him and went straight to the exit.

Desmond’s car was parked at the bottom of the steps.

He didn’t ask about the result. He just opened the car door for me.

Only after I was inside did I say, “They’ve started blaming each other.”

“Then let them talk.”

He started the car.

“The more they say, the more complete the record becomes.”
