He Moved His Lover In I Moved My Money Out Chapter 21

My lawyer submitted the lease, the photo of the plaque, the renovation contracts, and the audit report.

On the screen, the signature date from four months ago sat side by side with the transfer dates of the six hundred thousand dollars.

“This was not temporary shelter,” she said. “Mr. Whitmore first used Nora Rothman’s premarital funds to complete the renovation, then concealed the matter from the other equity holder and signed a symbolic thirty-year lease. What Ms. Bell is asking this court to protect is that concealed arrangement.”

Claire immediately shot back, “I didn’t move the money!”

“But you moved in, and you publicly referred to the house as your new home on social media.”

“Because Graham told me it was for me!”

She pointed at him, her voice rising sharply.

“He lied to me. He had the plaque installed, too. You should be going after him!”

At last, Graham snapped.

“If you hadn’t kept saying Owen needed the best school and a house big enough to entertain his friends, I never would have—”

“So I forced you to steal your wife’s money?”

Both lawyers requested a recess at the same time.

The judge struck the gavel.

“Enough.”

After a short recess, the judge issued a temporary ruling.

Because the lease had been signed without the other equity holder’s consent and involved disputed funds, its enforcement was suspended. Claire had to vacate the property by the court’s deadline, and the house would remain frozen pending the final divorce proceedings.

Claire collapsed back into her chair.

But Graham looked almost relieved.

He looked at me and moved his lips.

“Nora, I told the truth today.”

“You only chose the version that cost you the least once the evidence was in front of you.”

His eyes dimmed.

I exited the video call without giving him a second chance to speak.

That afternoon, my lawyer submitted certified copies of the hearing transcripts to the tax authorities, the SEC, and the trust committee.

Graham had personally admitted that I knew nothing about the lease.

This time, no one would be able to call the six hundred thousand dollars a gift between spouses.
