He Priced Me At A Penny So I Married Another Chapter 25

Saturday morning, Fairmount Park was swept by almost the same wind as that day.

The second I saw the display line at the entrance from inside the car, my palms broke out in sweat.

Everett didn’t rush me.

He turned off the engine and sat with me for several minutes.

“Lydia, the tickets are good for tonight and tomorrow morning.”

I unbuckled my seat belt.

“Let’s go in.”

Tori had arrived ahead of the announced time.

She wasn’t allowed into the vendor area, so she stood outside the walkway. Her phone was mounted between the bars of a ring light, and the backup poster was clipped to a folding board behind her.

The paper was already curling at the edges, but the photo was still the one I had handed her before we came to the park.

With a red marker, she had added a few more words beside “one cent.”

*She agreed to it herself.*

Mrs. Lawson stood just outside the camera’s view, holding the board steady against the wind.

“Derek has already apologized,” she told the people watching. “Young people fight—why does that have to destroy an entire family’s reputation? Lydia married into the Hale family right after and seems to be doing just fine, doesn’t she?”

The moment Tori saw me, she snatched up the megaphone.
