He Priced Me At A Penny So I Married Another Chapter 31
When Derek arrived at the park, Tori and Mrs. Lawson were still accusing each other.
He came through the crowd and saw the evidence bag in my hands first.
“Lydia, I didn’t know she was going to post it again.”
The moment Tori heard that, she spun around and slammed her phone into his chest.
“You didn’t know? You were the one who called me first and said the organizers were going to make a public statement. You told me to delete those chats and stop bringing up your name.”
Derek caught the phone, all the color gone from his face.
“I only told you not to hurt her again.”
“You were afraid she’d sue!”
Tori snatched the phone back and pulled up the chats she had once released.
“We did all of this together. And now you want to stand on her side and leave me to pay for everything alone?”
Derek didn’t deny it.
Mrs. Lawson grabbed his arm.
“Don’t say anything. Let the lawyers deal with this.”
He slowly pushed her hand away.
“Last year, I listened to you and told Lydia to keep it in the family. The result was that she kept thinking all she could do was endure it.”
“We can’t do that this time.”
Mrs. Lawson looked at him as if she no longer recognized him.
“You’re going to humiliate your own mother for a woman who already married someone else?”
Derek lowered his head.
“The one humiliating you isn’t Lydia.”
The words came far too late.
If he had said them that first time in the park, I might have taken them for protection.
