He Put His Ex First So I Found My True Mate Chapter 25

Three days after the hearing, Graham’s mother asked through her counsel to meet with me.

I declined.

She then sent a letter.

My attorney asked if I wanted to read it.

“Is it relevant to the case?”

“No. It’s just an apology.”

“Return it.”

Once, I would have worried that was too cold.

I would have wondered if she was hurting, if she would think I lacked pack feeling.

Now, those were emotions she had to manage herself. They were no longer my responsibility.

That same day, Blair signed a settlement agreement.

She repaid her share, plus interest and associated costs, and submitted a formal written statement.

She admitted that the decathlon had been designed in advance.

George had handled the envelope marks. Cynthia had created the betting sheet. Graham had seen the entire plan.

In the final section, she shifted all responsibility for the suite to Graham.

“He told me Mara would agree no matter what.”

Graham’s attorney immediately filed a response.

He admitted to seeing the arrangement but claimed Blair had pressured him by using the pups.

After reading that, George sent another statement, this time attaching the original message sequence to prove Graham had been involved from the very beginning.

Cynthia then instructed her attorney to add that she had only agreed to the more expensive items because Graham had guaranteed I would cover the charges.

One explanation followed another.

Everyone was desperate to prove they had only been a secondary participant.

The result was that they reconstructed the entire process in even more detail than the files on my drive.

My attorney slid the folder toward me.

“Do you want to read it?”

I flipped only to the signature pages.

All those names stood in neat lines now, no longer a ring of friends laughing over drinks, with no expectation of consequences.

“That’s enough.”

I closed the file.

At the cliff house, they had used a chart to bet on which round I would finally break.

Two years later, the first thing to crack was the alliance they had thought would always hold.
