He Replaced His Wife And Lost His Mafia Empire Chapter 12

In the end, Dominic went to the hospital first.

But Costa guards stood outside my room.

“Evelyn won’t see you.”

“I’m her husband.”

“She has retained counsel to prepare divorce papers. She is also requesting a neutral witness hearing to confirm a revocation of authority.”

Dominic looked as if he hadn’t understood.

“Tell her to come out and say that to my face.”

Miles came down the hall toward him.

“She has frostbite on her hands and feet. She just finished treatment. What else do you need her to get out of bed and prove to you?”

Dominic lowered his voice.

“I acted on impulse last night. I can apologize, and I’ll deal with Sloane. You have no right to interfere in our marriage.”

“Five years ago, when you two got married, you would have been right.”

Miles handed him a file.

“Now, she has authorized me to protect her, and she has authorized our adviser to prove to every relevant family that you abused the authority of a boss.”

Inside the file were not just the divorce instructions but also the surveillance footage from the house and the guards’ call logs.

Dominic saw the transcript of his own words: “Nobody helps her. Once she’s cold enough, she’ll come back and apologize.”

His hands began to shake.

“I didn’t know she’d go to the boathouse.”

“You didn’t need to know where she’d go,” Miles said. “You only needed to know there was a blizzard outside and that she had no coat, no phone, no documents, and no family protection.”

Dominic had nothing to say.

Miles didn’t hit him.

He simply called the Costa adviser in front of him.

“Cancel every collaboration with the Moretti family that hasn’t already gone into effect. Pull out of every project we’ve already entered, per the original terms. Don’t leave them a dollar more than they’re owed.”

Dominic looked up sharply.

“You’re using this to cripple my family.”

“No.”

Miles met his eyes.

“For the past five years, those partnerships existed because Evelyn wanted to believe in you. Now she doesn’t.”

“What you’re losing isn’t revenge from the Costa family.”

“It’s the support she used to give you.”
