He Sent Me Away So I Took His Crown Chapter 09

At two in the afternoon, I handed the access logs, fumigation records, and copies of the forged statement to Vittorio’s advisers.

Once I confirmed that three neutral witnesses had each received tamper-proof copies, I sent the evidence into the internal channels of every family that had been present on Saturday.

Within twenty minutes, footage from the auction grounds had spread throughout the entire underground racing world.

*The broadcast is reading her confession while she’s locked in a room full of poison.*

*Luca personally ordered them not to open the door if she wouldn’t apologize.*

*Who turned on the fumigation? That silver-bell bracelet is a dead giveaway.*

*This isn’t a domestic dispute. The Moretti heir used family enforcers to lock his own wife somewhere she nearly died.*

No one called the police.

A public courtroom could not strip Luca of his heir’s signet ring. In this world, only Vittorio and the leaders who had sworn loyalty to the Moretti family could do that.

Now the evidence had reached five district leaders and three allied families. Their code of silence could keep outsiders at bay, but it could not blind the witnesses.

Luca’s call came quickly.

“Elena, you sent the records to everyone?”

“Yes.”

“My grandfather has already convened an internal council. Two allies have frozen our funding, and every racing tribute due today is being reaudited. You still hold shares in this. What do you gain if Moretti collapses?”

“I don’t hold shares anymore.”

Silence.

“What did you say?”

“I sold the eighteen percent stake to the North Shore Racing Cooperative. The transaction was completed this morning.”

“Have you lost your mind?”

Luca’s voice nearly broke.

“My grandfather funded your education. He brought you back from that burned-out horse farm. And this is how you repay him and the Moretti family?”

I looked out the window.

Elias stood at the far end of the hall, speaking with an adviser. He didn’t come in to answer for me. He didn’t signal what I should say.

“The year I graduated, the Moretti bloodline records were a disaster and three major buyers walked away. I spent six straight weeks re-verifying the source of every single horse.”

“The year the funding broke down, I was the one who identified the horses that had been pledged as collateral twice and renegotiated the registration and auction licenses.”

“While you were accepting toasts from other leaders at banquets, I was the one handling payroll for the entire racing operation—insurance, veterinarians, clients, and every dollar of legitimate revenue.”

I paused.

“I paid Vittorio back for his help a long time ago, with my work and with the profits I generated.”

“You just don’t know that because you never bothered to look at what I was doing.”

“Your eyes were always on Bianca.”
