He Signed My Freedom Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 33

He finally noticed that both children had lost weight. He also saw Noah’s hand shaking as he held his spoon.

“Are you two not feeling well?” he asked.

Noah hurriedly shook his head.

Vivian came over and rested a hand on the boy’s head.

“They’re fine, aren’t you?”

Noah went rigid and could only nod.

At that exact moment, Lucian’s phone rang. Territorial business was calling him away again.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Vivian snatched Iris’s milk away.

“As long as your father is home these next few days, you will act normal. If either of you says one extra word, I’ll make sure you lose your heir training qualification.”

For a six-year-old Alpha heir, that was no ordinary threat.

Losing training qualification meant being publicly judged unfit to inherit. It meant falling from the center of everyone’s expectations.

Noah had been told from birth that he was the Alpha’s only male heir. He could ignore the staff, order other pups around, and treat my care as his due, all because Highridge would prioritize protecting his wolf.

Vivian had first used that privilege to turn him against me. Now she used the same inheritance rules to control him.

Iris’s position was different. She had no place in the line of succession and had only been favored as the Alpha’s daughter. Vivian told her that if Lucian had new pups, she would be sent to a boarding district far from the pack manor.

Only then did the children begin to understand that the affection they thought they could never lose had always depended on whether the one in power chose to give it.

That was also why I would never go back just because of one promise from Lucian. Love without boundaries or institutional protection could cradle you one day and throw you under the wreckage of an elevator the next.

Vivian knew exactly what to use to keep them quiet.

Once, she had used the same tactics to tell them that if they drove me away, their father’s love would belong entirely to them.
