He Sold Me Into Slavery I Returned As Queen Chapter 21

Rosalie was taken in for questioning, too.

She cried for an entire day.

At first, she insisted she knew nothing.

Then she accused Cedric of deceiving her.

At last, she said she had never held formal status and had suffered her entire life.

The investigator asked her, “Three years ago, you learned that Ella’s disappearance had another cause. Why didn’t you report it?”

She bit her lip and said nothing.

Her personal maid was brought into the interrogation room.

The maid stepped up to the witness stand and testified:

“Miss Rosalie cried the entire night.”

“The next day, she threw the letter Cedric sent her into the hearth.”

“She said that if Ella really was still alive, then Ella shouldn’t blame her for being heartless.”

“She said if Ella came back, she would lose everything she had.”

Rosalie screamed, “You’re lying!”

The maid lowered her head.

“I’m not lying. You also ordered me to burn the clothes and old shawl Ella left behind as a child.”

“You said a dead girl’s belongings had no place in the pack house.”

Rosalie went completely still.

The investigator looked at her coldly.

“Rosalie, it’s not that you couldn’t tell right from wrong.”

“You simply chose the side that benefited you most.”

At last, she stopped crying.

She sat on the floor and said in a low voice, “I only wanted someone to love me.”

“She had already been gone for so many years.”

“I thought she was dead.”

“Why should someone who was already dead come back and take my place?”
