He Used Me As A Testing Tool Chapter 06
The nurse looked at his disheveled state, her gaze seemingly complex.
“Given how serious the situation was, she’s already dead. Where else could she be?”
Gabriel felt as if his entire world had collapsed.
“Impossible! You’re lying to me!”
He burst out in tears as he tried to rush toward the morgue.
“Let me see her. I want to see her body. She can’t have died just like this!”
Several security guards rushed over and pinned him to the ground.
It wasn’t until Lisette, who had gotten the news, hurried to the hospital.
“Calm down, Gabe!”
When Gabriel saw Lisette, he broke free from the guards and grabbed her shoulders tightly.
“You prepared the drug. What exactly did you give her? Were you trying to kill her?!”
Lisette let out a frightened scream, then instantly put on an extremely aggrieved expression.
“I have no idea, Gabe!
“I bought the drug from a legitimate seller. I guess they were being dishonest.
“I only wanted to help you prove her innocence. I had no idea something like this would happen! It’s not as if I wanted any of this to happen either…”
Seeing Gabriel’s murderous expression, Lisette quickly took out her phone, tapped on a video, and showed it to him.
“Don’t blame me, Gabe.
“Her death has nothing to do with us. It was her own doing…”
Lisette pointed at the recorded footage.
“Look, I had someone pull this from the hospital’s back entrance.
“That day, she willingly left with a group of thugs. She was fooling around—it’s what got her killed.
“It has nothing to do with us or the hospital!”
In the video, Julianna was seen linking her arm with one of the thugs, a flirty smile on her face.
Gabriel stared at the video, his entire body rooted in place.
He furrowed his brows. For some reason, it didn’t feel right.
That gentle and reserved girl had just gone through such humiliation, with more than 20 stitches on her arm. How could she suddenly be laughing and chatting with a bunch of street thugs?
But at that moment, Gabriel desperately needed this excuse.
If Julianna had died because of the examination he arranged, that would make him an indirect killer. In other words, that suffocating guilt would drive him completely insane.
He forced himself to ignore the unnatural inconsistencies in the video, telling himself over and over that Julianna had betrayed him first.
Even so, her death still lingered like a dark cloud, hanging heavily over him.
For days, Gabriel felt restless.
He couldn’t sleep at night. Whenever he closed his eyes, all he saw was Julianna’s blood-streaked arm.
Lisette was anxious inside, but she still maintained a caring front.
Holding the bowl of clam chowder she made herself, she gently said, “Gabe, I’m sorry for what happened to Julie, but the dead can never return.
“The Presley Group’s banquet is next week. Even though Julie is gone, you don’t plan on skipping it, right?
“Think about the company’s key project for the second half of the year. Since it’s such a big deal, why don’t you take me along instead?”
