He Watched Me Freeze Now He Begs For My Return Chapter 21

Three days later, Elaine gave an interview outside a Denver television station.

In a black coat, looking haggard, she told the camera she was a mother being retaliated against by her own daughter.

“Nora has always been emotionally fragile. We treated both girls equally, but she was always jealous of Paige.”

“The gala video was edited. She spliced together things said between a husband and wife, destroyed her father, and destroyed me.”

The reporter asked why the original files had been stored on the family’s shared cloud drive.

Elaine paused, her eyes instantly reddening.

“They were our family videos. What family hasn’t said things in anger? Nora took them without permission. That in itself was a betrayal.”

By the time Sarah sent me the interview link, people in the comments were already starting to sympathize.

Some said that since I had already left, I shouldn’t be pushing my aging mother into a corner.

Others asked how cruel a daughter had to be to turn her parents’ private conversation over to the prosecutor.

Sarah was furious.

“Let me release the group chat screenshots from the blizzard night.”

“And the police records from when they harassed you at work.”

“We can’t let her play the victim again.”

I stared at that familiar face on the screen and didn’t immediately agree.

In the past, every time Paige hurt me, Elaine had stood in public just like this—eyes red, voice disappointed, asking why I insisted on ruining the family mood.

She knew exactly how to make other people speak for her.

But this time, I didn’t need to argue with her.

That same afternoon, my lawyer told me the prosecutor had received the hard drive.

The family cloud account still had the original upload records. Every file on the drive matched those records perfectly. The raw footage ran continuously, from the moment the camera started to the moment it stopped, with no cuts and no splicing.

Elaine’s claim of “malicious editing” lasted less than a day.

The station updated the story on the evening news.

The anchor offered no opinion, simply showing the verification results before replaying Elaine’s own words:

“If I hadn’t testified that you were home all night, the police would have arrested you years ago.”

When the broadcast cut back to her interview, her claim that it was just “something said in anger” looked utterly ridiculous.

The next day, Elaine was officially subpoenaed.

This time, she didn’t get to cry on camera.
