His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 28

The Westbrooks didn’t sue.

Three days later, Patricia asked to meet me at a hotel.

She chose a private lounge on the top floor, as if she still believed I should have to look up to her.

When I arrived, there were two cups of coffee on the table in front of her.

“Sit.”

“I only have twenty minutes.”

The corner of her mouth tightened.

“You’re sounding more and more like a Cavendish.”

“Is that why you asked me here?”

“Of course not.”

She pushed a document across the table.

“If you delete the recording and publicly state this was all a misunderstanding, the Westbrook family is willing to make a donation in your name to any institution you choose.”

I didn’t touch the document.

“How much?”

She named a number.

I nodded.

“So you do know humiliation has a price.”

Her face changed.

“Rebecca, I’m offering you a dignified way out.”

“I don’t need a way out.”

“Then what do you want?”

“For Tyler to issue a public correction. For you to retract what you said about me and my mother. And for Mason to stop contacting me.”
