His Lesson Killed My Mother Now He Will Pay Chapter 51
During a short recess, Sloane’s lawyer suddenly moved to call Graham to the stand.
When he was sworn in, he did not look at me.
Sloane, however, latched onto him like a final lifeline.
“Those assessment questions—weren’t they developed with Vale Foundation resources?”
“No.”
“Did Nora ever show you the system while you were in a relationship?”
“Yes.”
“Did you ever contribute suggestions to it?”
Graham paused for several seconds.
“I offered suggestions. She didn’t use them.”
A ripple of laughter went through the gallery.
Sloane’s face drained of color. “Then why did you give the materials to me?”
“Because I thought I had the right to decide what kind of counseling Nora should receive.”
“So you authorized me to use them!”
“I had no rights to authorize.”
Graham raised his head and looked at her directly for the first time.
“Those materials belonged to Nora and Elena. You knew Nora never signed the authorization agreement. You knew she didn’t consent.”
Sloane cut in sharply, “You knew, too! You said that once you were married, everything of hers would become part of the Vale family’s shared assets!”
The courtroom went dead still.
In her rush to prove Graham’s involvement, she had admitted with her own mouth that she had always known no valid authorization existed.
Aisha stood.
“Does Ms. Mercer’s statement mean that the only basis on which she used these materials was oral permission from someone with no legal authority to grant it?”
Sloane’s lawyer objected immediately.
The judge struck the gavel.
“Objection overruled. The witness will answer.”
Sloane looked at Graham.
He had already lowered his head.
He didn’t say another word for her.
