His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 29

His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 29

The first project I was in charge of after my promotion ran into trouble.

Several sets of numbers didn’t match.

No one in the conference room dared to speak.

Dana threw the files onto the table.

“If this isn’t sorted out tonight, nobody leaves.”

The scene reminded me of that other all-nighter—Garrett in the hospital, Vanessa at my front door.

Now, my focus was only on work.

I assigned the data modules to my team and checked the source files myself.

At two in the morning, we found the error.

One of my coworkers collapsed back in his chair.

“Boss, I want to go back to Iowa and grow corn again.”

Same man, same complaint.

Everyone in the conference room laughed.

Even Dana nearly smiled before rapping the table.

“What’s so funny?”

“Send out the corrected version, then all of you go home and sleep.”

At dawn, we walked out of the office building.

Ethan was waiting by his car, leaning against it with breakfast in hand.

My coworkers started teasing me immediately.

I waved them off.

“He’s just a friend.”

Someone deliberately dragged out the words.

“Of course. We get it. Just a friend.”

After they’d walked on, I finally looked at Ethan.
