I Called Off My Wedding Chapter 06
Brandon had been standing in the rain outside the gates for an entire night.
He stood perfectly straight, even though he was soaked to the bone and rain dripped steadily from his chin.
He stared fixedly at the iron gates, his voice hoarse and trembling.
“Kimmy, please come out and see me.”
His ragged shout carried through the rain and into the living room.
I sat in front of the fireplace, holding a cup of black coffee Terrence had just made for me, the steam blurring my vision.
“Want me to have my men drag him away?” Terrence wrapped his arms around me from behind, his voice thick with disgust.
I shook my head and set down my cup.
“No. I have unfinished business that needs to be handled one-on-one.”
I pulled on a shawl, grabbed an umbrella, and walked out of the manor.
The iron gates creaked open slowly. When Brandon saw me, his eyes lit up with wild joy.
He stumbled forward, but the bodyguards blocked him coldly at the gates.
He didn’t get angry. Instead, he carefully pulled a phone that was still dry from inside his jacket, his voice hoarse.
“Kimmy, this is her apology video. I was an idiot to ever doubt you… Come home with me. You’ve always been the one meant to be my wife.”
He begged, trying to use his fake affection and empty words to make himself look innocent.
I stared at him silently — the man I’d loved for ten years — and felt nothing but pity.
I ignored the phone, pulled out a waterproof document envelope, and slammed it into his face.
“Brandon, spare me your disgusting, hypocritical act.”
The envelope hit him square in the face, and several photos and a lab report spilled out onto the ground.
Brandon froze and stared down.
The first photo was a screenshot from the security camera outside Brandon’s suite.
It clearly showed him crushing the pills and dumping them into the glass of milk before he brought it into my room.
The second was a lab report for the sleeping pills.
It clearly stated that the amount of drug left at the bottom of the glass was enough to knock an adult out for ten full hours.
Brandon’s body went rigid as he stared at the photos.
“Did you really think I didn’t know?” I looked down at him, my voice ice-cold.
“You drugged me yourself to knock me out, just so Lynette would have time to cut up my wedding dress.
“And when she destroyed the dress I’d poured my heart into, you didn’t stop her — you covered for her.
“You pretended to be a good man, but what you really did was destroy my dignity to indulge your pitiful urge to play the hero.”
With every word I spoke, Brandon’s body shook violently.
His flimsy justifications crumbled the second I confronted him, every selfish motive beneath exposed.
“No… That’s not true… Kimmy, I was just…” He tried to explain, but nothing coherent came out.
“Just what? You just thought that because I loved you, I’d forgive you no matter what you did?”
I let out a sneer, my eyes filled with contempt.
“That drugged glass of milk you brought me tasted just wonderful, Brandon. Who exactly are you putting on this loving act for now?”
Brandon collapsed into the muddy water, clutching his hair and letting out a pained whimper.
“Kimmy, I know I was wrong… I made a terrible mistake… I can’t live without you…”
He tried to grab the hem of my dress, but a bodyguard kicked his hand away.
I looked at his pathetic state and felt nothing inside.
“Is that all?” I asked flatly.
“That tiara was Mom’s, and it meant everything to me. But you just handed it to Lynette just to keep her happy.
“And when she fell into the pool, you blamed me without even asking what happened.
“Brandon, you’re a terrible person.”
Brandon’s head snapped up, his face streaked with rain and tears.
“I’ll pay for it! I’ll sell everything I own to pay for it! Kimmy, just give me one more chance…”
“Can you afford it?”
A cold male voice came from behind me.
Terrence walked over to my side, holding a black umbrella, and pulled me into his arms.
