I had an injury on my lower back, too. After my shower, I took out the ointment, getting ready to apply it myself.
Thatcher came over, reaching for it.

“I’ll do it myself later.”
He took the ointment from my hand anyway.
“I’ll do it.”
I stood up.

The next day was the weekend. I was going to a college classmate’s wedding.
Out of the blue, Thatcher asked if I was free.
“I’m not. I have plans.”
He nodded, his voice a little low.
“One of my friends is getting married tomorrow.”
“If you’re free, do you want to come with me?”
What a coincidence. A lot of people were getting married tomorrow.
I never expected the bride to be my college classmate.
And the groom was one of Thatcher’s friends.
Ava and the others were there, too.
We were all seated at the same table.
When Thatcher suddenly sat down beside me, I didn’t have time to react.
The bride and groom came over to our table to make their rounds.
The bride introduced me.
“This is my college classmate, Alessa Blake.”
