I Lost Our Child Chapter 10
When I got back to New York, I carried a box of things from the parking garage into the elevator.
The moment the elevator doors opened, I saw Thatcher.
The instant he saw me, his eyes turned red.
“Where did you go?”
I only told him I had gone home for a few days.
He said, “I looked for you for days.”
“I thought something had happened to you.”
“If something comes up next time, can you just tell me?”
I nodded faintly.
He took the box from my hands.
Ava had attempted suicide the night of the wedding.
She had been saved and was already out of the hospital.
Recently, our department was producing a feature series, and Ava was on the guest list.
Twelve episodes in total.
A coworker sent an invitation to her studio.
They replied quickly, and they specifically requested me by name.
My supervisor had me join the production team for the episode.
Everything was prepared.
A week later, our team went to the studio.
Ava looked like she had recovered well.
She named me as the lead interviewer for the episode.
I couldn’t refuse, and I had no reason to.
“Sure.”
The interview questions had been revised by her manager before being sent to us.
When I saw the outline, I paused.
“Ava, let’s begin.”
I smiled as I asked the questions, as if the first love she was talking about had nothing to do with me.
“Ava, the first three questions for this episode are from top-voted fan comments.”
“The first question is, a lot of people want to know about your first love.”
She smiled at the camera, then looked at me, her lips curling slightly.
“My first love was someone I grew up with.”
