I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 12
Julien and I stepped into the elevator.
The moment the doors closed, he let go of me and moved back, creating enough distance between us that even with my arm fully extended, I couldn’t have touched him.
“Is this enough space?” he asked.
I leaned back against the cool wall of the elevator car, only then realizing my back was soaked in a cold sweat.
“It is. The performance is over. Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me yet.” Julien took off his coat and held it out to me. “You owe me two meals. One for today. And one for disappearing six years ago without a word.”
I didn’t take the coat. He folded it over his own arm and didn’t insist.
“The way Adrian looks at you,” he said quietly, “is not the way a man looks at something he’s finished with.”
“That’s his business.”
The elevator doors opened on the nineteenth floor.
As I stepped out, Julien added, so low I almost didn’t hear him, “Good. Let him keep it.”
