I Signed Away Eight Million To Leave Him Chapter 34
The agreement stated clearly that if Graham harassed a former fiancée, Sloane had the right to the marital home and compensation.
Sloane had always known who couldn’t let go.
She had even put a price on it in advance.
“That prenup is a private document!” She shot to her feet.
“When you went on television to discuss my marriage, my house, and my mother’s death, you didn’t seem to think privacy mattered.”
I looked at her.
“Now it’s your turn to answer for what you said.”
Her lawyer motioned for her to calm down.
But Sloane just stared at me.
“Graham ruined my wedding. He made me a laughingstock.”
“He told me you would come back.”
“Before he died, he was still burning your wedding invitations. Why am I the only one left for people to talk about?”
She broke off.
The room went silent.
At last, she had admitted it herself.
She had never attacked me to expose some truth.
She had done it because Graham had never truly chosen her.
The mediator asked if I would accept a private apology.
“No.”
“What about the amount of compensation?”
“Whatever the law requires. My portion will go to a legal aid fund for domestic violence survivors.”
Sloane gave a sharp, disbelieving laugh.
“So now you’re going to use your mother for sympathy again?”
“No.”
I closed the file.
“The organization won’t use her name, and I won’t accept another charity performance stamped with the name Vale or Ellis.”
“I just want the next person locked behind a door to have someone there to help open it.”
