I Sold His Gifts To Leave My Mafia Husband Chapter 08
The footage cut to the next morning.
A taxi stopped at the curb.
Daisy loaded the suitcase and the folded wheelchair into the trunk.
Before getting in, she looked down at her phone.
She removed the SIM card, snapped it in half, and dropped it into a nearby trash can.
The car door shut.
The taxi drove out of the camera’s frame.
Matteo slammed his fist onto the glass tabletop.
The pane shattered, driving shards into his knuckles.
Blood dripped onto the keyboard.
He didn’t move his hand.
“No.”
He rewound the footage further.
One month earlier. Daisy took down a framed photo, rolled it up, and placed it in a black trash bag.
Two months earlier. She emptied her jewelry box and stuffed all the gift certificates from various boutiques into a canvas tote.
Three months earlier. She sat at the desk in the study, asset documents and the Family protection terms spread out before her. She read them page by page, marking clauses Matteo himself had never bothered to look at.
Four months earlier.
Five months earlier.
Every night he didn’t come home, she had methodically stripped away another piece of her life in that house: gifts, accounts, photos, and the very identity that belonged to the Vitale family.
He had never noticed.
Because he had never once looked back.
