I Survived My Father’s Test And Took His Throne Chapter 18

Every time she came close to death, a healer was ordered to stabilize her vital signs.

Every day, her screams and curses echoed from the detention sector.

That was my private vengeance, and the darkness of it was mine to bear.

After I was done with my father and Evelyn, Julian came to see me.

He returned the regent’s insignia and his command authority over the Royal Guard, then knelt before me.

Guilt and pain had nearly crushed him.

“Laurel, King Edmund and Evelyn threatened your life and forced me to cooperate with the fake coup.”

“For the past three years, every time I humiliated you, I went back and couldn’t sleep. I have never loved anyone else. From beginning to end, there has only ever been you.”

His voice shook uncontrollably.

“Please. Give me one more chance.”

I looked at him and suddenly smiled.

“Julian, have you forgotten what you did?”

“You crushed my fingers with your own hands. You watched me lose my place in the royal pack. You watched as everyone dragged me into hell.”

“What makes you think I would still choose you?”

His face went utterly white.

“I didn’t mean to. I thought you really—”

“That’s enough.”

I cut him off.

“You were the Alpha heir of the Ironcrest Pack and the regent in control of the Royal Guard. You had soldiers, authority, and three full years to investigate.”
