I Was The Mafia’s Maid Now I’m Their Regret Chapter 17

It was my mother.

She was wearing a raincoat and holding an umbrella.

When she saw the rain falling on me, she hurried over and held the umbrella above my head.

She had come alone.

No Family guards.

Chloe sobered up instantly and gave me a gentle nudge.

“You know her? Then I’ll head up first.”

Emma helped her away.

I led my mother under the shelter of a nearby overhang.

She kept looking at me, as if afraid I would turn and leave at any second.

“Cosima.”

She lowered her head, her posture awkward and unnatural.

“You look like you’re doing well. That’s a relief.”

She paused before continuing.

“I just wanted to come see you.”

“Your sister said you didn’t want to come home, and that you didn’t want us contacting you.”

“But I couldn’t stop worrying, so I came anyway.”

“I sat on a train for ten hours by myself.”

I looked at her and asked, “What about Nico? Wasn’t he busy with his heir assessment?”

The moment the words left my mouth, she froze.

Mom gave a small cough.

“It ended the day before yesterday.”

I understood immediately.

Of course. She had dealt with Nico’s business first and only then remembered me.
