Leaving At Last Chapter 06

Leaving At Last Chapter 06

After knocking twice, Talia came in.

She was also carrying a cheesecake, her eyes a little red.

“Blair, you’re too good.”

She hugged me. I frowned slightly but didn’t say anything.

She kept talking, holding the cake and a fork out to me as if she wanted to feed me.

“Briar told me everything.”

“You took the blame for me on purpose, and that’s why you got suspended.”

I was stunned.

So that’s what he’d told her.

Why?

To protect her feelings?

Even though Briar was the one who had done this, I couldn’t stop a fresh wave of resentment from rising toward Talia.

I pushed her away, turning my head from the cake she offered.

“Talia, you should go.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Are you still mad at Briar?”

“He said you two already made up.”

“No.”

“We’re not making up.”

“You two are so…”

“Wait, why are you packing so much?”

“Where are you going?”

Talia’s voice rose as she took in the luggage scattered across the floor.

My irritation got the better of me, and my tone came out sharp.

“I’m going on a trip.”

“You should go. I don’t want to see anyone right now.”

She quickly chalked my behavior up to the suspension.

“Okay, I’m leaving.”

“Remember to eat the cake.”

Not long after she left, another message came from Briar.

[Something came up at the hospital. Can’t get away right now.]
