Make Them Regret It Chapter 34
“Blythe, Antonio has already resigned. Your brothers have voluntarily withdrawn from their positions. Colton has been kneeling outside the estate gates for days.”
“They know they were wrong.”
“Knowing you’re wrong isn’t the same as paying a debt.”
I laid Isabella’s case file in front of him.
“They admitted their part in the charade. Whose orders the guards followed, who hosted the party in the main house, how Colton used my family to pressure me—it’s all in these statements.”
“As for the Core, my father and both my brothers were there. Colton stood in the doorway.”
“I’m not asking for anything more than what is deserved.”
“I’m only asking that the rules be followed.”
The new head of the family took the petition and stamped it with the family seal.
The moment the seal came down, footsteps sounded outside the door.
My father and my two brothers walked in.
They had clearly heard everything.
My older brother’s face hardened when he saw the petition on the desk. My second brother reflexively clutched the hand he had used to pin down my leg.
My father was the first to pick up a pen.
“There’s no need for an investigation.”
He signed his name at the bottom of a blank confession.
“I did it.”
My older brother took the pen next.
“I arranged for the supplies, and I ordered them locked inside. I chose the guards.”
My second brother’s hand shook as he took the pen.
“The night her Core was taken, I was the one holding her down.”
After they finished, Colton walked in from outside.
He had changed out of his formal suit. His hands were still wrapped in bandages from the shattered pendant.
He didn’t look at me. He just picked up the pen and wrote the last sentence.
“I was aware of the forged federal announcement used to threaten Blythe Romano’s family and coerce her into breaking the engagement, and I participated in its arrangement.”
Four confessions lay on the table.
This time, no one told me to just endure it.
