My Family Stole My Run I Returned A Leader Chapter 11
Tears fell from Stefan’s eyes, landing on those words.
In that moment, he finally understood what he had lost.
After returning from Gray Valley, Stefan shut himself in his apartment.
He didn’t go out for three days.
The others at the warrior academy tried reaching him through the link, but he never answered.
Mrs. Rossi’s words kept replaying in his head.
So did the sentence on the back of that note.
He remembered the night before the trip to Tide Coast.
My ID card had been taken away. My suitcase handed to Bella. My itinerary discarded.
He had seen my disappointment.
And still, he had stood on Bella’s side and told me:
“Be mature.”
He had thought I was just sulking.
He had thought that after they came back, he could buy me a gift, soothe me a little, and everything would go back to normal.
Because I had always forgiven him before.
Now he finally understood.
Not every promise could be postponed, and not everyone would stay where they were, waiting for him.
On the fourth day, he finally left his apartment.
He asked around, again and again.
Eventually, he confirmed that I had officially enrolled at Gray Harbor University.
But the school would not release my specific information to him.
He didn’t know my major.
He didn’t know which dorm I lived in.
He didn’t have my contact information.
So he could only look for me on campus.
First day. Second day. Third day.
He wandered the university grounds, asking everyone he met.
Did they know a Paloma Lombardi from Cedar Ridge?
On the fourth day, he stopped in front of an activity poster.
It was a photo from the freshman welcome event.
In the picture, I was wearing a simple, well-cut suit.
