My Fiancé Chose Her So I Chose Myself Chapter 32
A year later, TerraGrid completed its North American integration.
The new management shut down positions with no real responsibilities and re-audited all suppliers, authority structures, and territory licenses. By the time the company returned to stable cash flow, I was in London attending the group’s annual conference.
Before the meeting ended, the chairman announced that I would oversee Northstar’s next phase of global acquisitions and cross-pack integration.
The Thames Riverside pack also granted me a cross-territory coordination seat in recognition of my work.
When applause filled the room, Marissa was sitting to my right.
She was no longer my assistant, but the head of the newly formed integration office.
After the session, she handed me an itinerary.
“Copenhagen tomorrow. The forecast says there might be a blizzard tomorrow night.”
“Has the hotel been confirmed?”
“Everyone on the team has a room. If the return flight gets canceled, we have a backup arrangement.”
I looked at that line and smiled.
“Good.”
The next afternoon, the blizzard grounded flights exactly as forecast.
The six of us were stranded at the airport.
A long line snaked from the airline counter. Marissa went to confirm our rebooking options, while I called the hotel shuttle.
Twenty minutes later, she came back with an armful of blankets, while another colleague brought a paper bag filled with sandwiches and hot drinks.
“One for each person,” Marissa said, setting down the blankets. “We’ve got vegetarian, nut-free, and high-calorie options. Pick for yourselves.”
No one was left behind to watch all the luggage.
