My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 06
Margot had a mild concussion and needed to stay in the hospital for observation.
Rafael stayed with her all night.
The next morning, when he woke up, the familiar ache in his side flared.
Out of habit, he said, “Helena, my back is killing me. Help me up.”
The words were barely out of his mouth before he remembered. Helena was gone.
A friend told him that after the accident, the Hawthornes had collected Helena and taken her to the estate.
A hollow feeling opened up inside Rafael’s chest.
He heard the Hawthornes were visiting the family cemetery that day for a memorial, and he found himself driving there, watching from a distance.
He saw Helena.
She wasn’t making a scene. She wasn’t trying to run.
She was just standing quietly among them, handing a bottle of water to the elderly Mr. Hawthorne in his wheelchair and adjusting the blanket over his legs.
Rafael watched from afar, a dull pressure building in his chest.
He told himself that as soon as the old man died, he would bring Helena back.
This time, he would never let her suffer again.
