My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 09
“That’s impossible. She has a long scar on her waist.”
The doctor explained, “That scar is from an open surgery for kidney stones several years ago. It’s not from a kidney donation.”
Rafael sat there in stunned silence for a long time.
Three years ago, he had been diagnosed with end-stage renal failure.
He hadn’t wanted to worry his parents or Helena, so he’d kept it to himself.
He had already prepared for the worst.
Then, a short time later, the hospital informed him they had found a matching donor.
The surgery was a success.
During his recovery, he accidentally overheard two nurses chatting in the hall.
They said the donor was a woman in her twenties who had gone against her family’s wishes to make the donation.
After hearing that, Rafael was determined to thank her in person.
He begged the nurses until one of them finally relented, telling him the donor was in the room next door, bed eight.
Still weak from surgery, Rafael dragged himself to the next room.
He pushed the door open and saw the person lying in bed eight.
It was Margot Bennett.
She was his boss’s daughter.
Rafael had always known she had a crush on him.
She flirted with him relentlessly at the office, and he had always politely shut her down.
But he never imagined she would be willing to donate a kidney for him.
In that moment, Rafael was truly moved.
He walked to her bedside, his eyes already red.
“Margot, thank you.”
“Thank you for doing this for me. I… I never expected this.”
“From now on, whatever you need—if it’s in my power to give it—I’ll do it.”
Margot froze for a second, then slowly blushed.
After a moment, she gave a small nod.
Rafael had been too overwhelmed with gratitude to notice the flicker of panic in her eyes.
