My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 25
The only person who had remained silent was Griffin.
Now, he finally spoke.
“Alpha Vale.” He looked directly at Sterling, his voice cutting through the strained politeness. “How much do you actually know about Chiara?”
The dining room went quiet.
“Do you know what she hates to eat? What she’s afraid of? Do you know how old she was when she learned to ride a bike, or when she got her first perfect score in school?”
His voice was low, intense. “You don’t know any of that. So on what basis do you claim you’ll marry her? On what basis do you think you can bring her into Ironwood?”
No one had expected Griffin to challenge another Alpha so directly in front of his own family.
Her grandfather looked at Chiara.
Her mother looked at Chiara.
Only Francesca sat clutching her skirt, her wolf-scent growing unstable. But for once, she didn’t play the part of the fainting damsel.
Sterling slowly set down his wineglass. He glanced at Chiara, then met Griffin’s gaze.
“You’re right. There’s a lot I don’t know.”
He paused. “But I do know she doesn’t eat cilantro, she hates baked eggplant, she’s afraid of thunder, and she learned to ride a bike when she was four.”
Chiara froze.
Sterling turned back to Griffin.
“You know all of that, too.”
“So what?” Griffin shot back.
“So you know every one of her fears. You can tell by her scent when she’s only pretending to be fine.”
Sterling leaned forward slightly. “And then you signed a marriage alliance with her sister and let her leave her own Pack for three years.”
“So what, exactly, is the point of knowing any of it?”
No one in the room spoke.
Chiara felt her eyes begin to burn.
Not because Sterling had defended her.
But because he was right.
What good was it to know someone’s history, their likes and dislikes?
If you knew all those things and still chose to leave them standing alone, then that knowledge meant nothing at all.
“That’s enough.” Her grandfather rapped his knuckles on the table. “If things have progressed this far, then let the two Packs—”
“Grandpa.”
Francesca rose abruptly from her chair.
“Excuse me. I need to use the washroom.”
