My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 38
“But Chiara—”
He took another step closer.
They were so near now. Her wolf recognized his pine scent but made no move toward him.
“You can hate me. You can reject Nightfall. But don’t tie yourself—and your inheritance—to Ironwood.”
“You don’t know what kind of man Sterling is. It wasn’t an accident that he found you in Paris. And it’s not an accident that he’s standing by your side now.”
His voice dropped, becoming almost a plea. “Just this once—can you trust me?”
This man, who never bowed to anyone, was asking for her trust.
But he wasn’t asking her to come back to him.
He was only asking her to leave another Alpha.
“What am I supposed to trust? You say you never took vows with her, never marked her. You say you went to Paris, that you’ll explain everything later.”
“But you’ve never actually told me what happened.”
“You’ve never trusted me enough to believe I could handle the truth.”
By the end, Chiara’s voice was trembling.
For three years, she had told herself to let it go, that it was all in the past.
But it wasn’t over. It had never been over.
She looked at him, her eyes burning.
“When the plane took off that day, I would have rather you told me the truth, no matter how ugly. Anything would have been better than your silence.”
Griffin’s eyes went red.
The same eyes that were usually so controlled now burned with a raw, crimson light.
The hand clutching the steel ring was shaking.
“Chiara, just give me a little more time. Once I take care of one last thing, I’ll tell you everything.”
“What last thing?” she demanded.
