My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 73

That night, a storm rolled over New York.

A little after eight, thunder cracked above the Pack estate.

Chiara’s hand paused over her pen.

She’d been afraid of thunder since she was a child.

Every time a storm rolled in, Griffin would sit outside her bedroom and tell her stories through the door—tales of his Guardian training.

Later, when she grew up, she stopped admitting she was afraid.

She heard footsteps in the hall.

They stopped outside her study door.

Griffin didn’t open it.

Her phone vibrated on the desk.

*I’m outside. Can I come in?*

Chiara stared at the message.

When the second thunderclap rattled the windows, she replied with a single word.

*Yes.*

Griffin entered carrying two cups of hot coffee.

He set one at her right hand, then sat on the sofa farthest from her desk.

He didn’t hug her.

He didn’t say, *don’t be afraid*.

He just stayed.

Chiara closed the last file.

“If you could do it all over again, would you still sign the alliance with Francesca?”

Griffin fell silent.

She looked up at him.

“You promised you wouldn’t use silence anymore.”

“No,” he said, his voice quiet but firm.

“At the time, there were other options. Slower ones. But I would have lost the acting Alpha position.”

“I chose the fastest path. The one that gave me the most control.”

“Your father was right. To get the result I want, I’m used to sacrificing whatever it takes.”

He met her eyes. “Including you.”

Lightning flashed outside, and his voice followed the thunder.

“If I could do it again, I would tell you everything—the evidence, the danger.”

“If you chose to stay, we would have faced it together.”

“If you chose to leave, I would take you to the airport. But I wouldn’t lie and call it for your own good.”

A slow heat rose behind Chiara’s eyes.

This was the answer she had always wanted.

Not, *I did it all to protect you*.

But the admission that he had been wrong.

“Come here,” she said.

Griffin froze.

Only after he was sure she wasn’t going to change her mind did he walk over to her desk.

Chiara reached out, wrapped her arms around his waist, and rested her head against his chest.

His hands hovered in the air for a moment before settling gently on her back.

Thunder still rumbled outside.

But this time, no one was deciding for her whether the door should stay closed.
