My Husband The Judge Sentenced Me To Prison Chapter 08
When he got home, Valerie was sitting in the living room, ordering Rosa around like she owned the place.
Leo was hovering around her, trying to get her to pull some strings for an internship.
“Aunt Valerie,” Leo said fawningly, “it’s so much better now that she’s gone. We can finally be the perfect family.”
Valerie smiled and patted Leo’s head. “Of course, darling. Once I have your father wrapped around my finger, this whole city will be ours.”
Hearing that, the fear and rage that had been building in Marcus for a month finally exploded.
He stormed over, grabbed Valerie’s wrist, and yanked her off the sofa.
“Get out,” he snarled, his voice low and terrifying.
“What?” Valerie was stunned. “Marcus, what are you talking about?”
“I said get the hell out of my house!” Marcus roared. “It was you! You ruined everything!”
“If it wasn’t for your greed, for that goddamn money, if you hadn’t convinced Leo to steal the token, Sarah would never have gone to prison! She would never have left me!”
The sudden outburst shocked Valerie, but then her true colors showed.
“You’re blaming me?” she shrieked, ripping her arm away. “Marcus Caldwell, don’t you dare act like you’re some saint now!”
“Who was it that said he needed campaign funding? Who said Sarah was too rigid and inflexible? You let it happen!”
“Stop with the heartbroken husband act! You’re just terrified she has the evidence to send you to prison!”
Her words were like a knife, tearing away his last shred of dignity.
