My Husband The Judge Sentenced Me To Prison Chapter 11
Marcus took a step forward, trying to play the sympathy card. “Sarah, we know we were wrong. That’s enough now. Come home with us. I got rid of Valerie. We need you. I need you, Leo needs you…”
“Need me?” I laughed, a bitter sound that was almost a sob. “Need me to come back and launder your money? Or need me to be your live-in maid?”
“Sarah, I love you…”
“Love?” I cut him off. “Marcus, don’t you dare insult that word.”
“When I was being bullied and spat on in federal prison, where were you? You were celebrating your victory with my sister in my bed.”
“Is that what you call love?”
Marcus tried to say something else, but I raised my hand and slapped him hard across the face.
I had been waiting nine years to do that.
The sharp crack echoed through the silent office.
A trickle of blood appeared at the corner of Marcus’s mouth, but he just stood there, his head bowed.
“That was for the Sarah you destroyed.”
“Now, get out of my office. Or I’ll call the police and have you arrested for harassment.”
Alex brandished the baseball bat. “You heard her! Get out!”
I watched through the blinds as they were chased out like stray dogs. I saw Marcus fall to his knees in the rain, sobbing his heart out.
But I felt nothing.
I turned to Alex. “Close the blinds. We have work to do.”
